Ghana: IMF deal won’t affect nursing, teacher trainees allowance – Pres Akufo-Addo

President Akufo Addo has assured that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) extended credit facility program with Ghana will not affect nursing and teacher training allowance.

In mid-May 2023 the International Monetary Fund (IMF) finally approved a US$3 billion 36-month arrangement with Ghana.

It immediately disbursed the first tranche of US$600 million.

US$3billion IMF bailout for Ghana however comes with a set of conditionalities aimed at addressing the underlying economic challenges ensure fiscal discipline and promote sustainable economic growth.

Some economists have averred that payment of nursing and teacher trainee allowance must be cancelled for fiscal space.

However, speaking on behalf of President Akufo-Addo during 175th Anniversary and Prize Giving Day of the Presbyterian College of Education at Akropong-Akuapem in the Eastern region, Senior Presidential Advisor Yaw Osafo-Maafo stated that nursing and teacher trainees allowance is one of the social intervention programs the government strongly protected during the negotiation with the IMF.

“Teacher trainees present, I know that the difficulty in the economic landscape which has resulted in government’s signing up for a program with International Monitory Fund IMF may cause you some concern. But none of the allowances of the teaching profession will be affected with our program with IMF. There were certain things which are not to be touched and the teacher allowances was on of such protected allowance. The difficulty in prompt payment is coming from our own mobilization of resources and not the IMF once you have it you can be sure that teachers allowances and the rest of it will be honoured appropriately”.

He expressed commitment of government to the teacher education and profession to ensure quality education.

President Akufo-Addo mentioned for instance that the introduction of licensing for teachers is a step to restore dignity in the profession.

“The introduction of licensing examination for teachers for example was done in the utmost good fate. It is aimed at lifting the image of the profession and avoiding situation where unqualified persons could pose as teachers and in the process bring the profession into disrepute”.

He added that “it is my expectation that interventions such as the distribution of laptops and payment of continuous professional development allowance to teachers will systematically improve the capacity and morale among the teaching profession and our teachers

People who hate John Mahama, do so; the secret is he is more intelligent than Akufo-Addo

I can say with absolute certainty that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the president of Ghana at the moment, is not clever in the least. Together with his family, the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, their brashness, incompetence, laziness, extensive corruption, and covert criminal activity, have irreparably damaged Ghana and its economy. Therefore, we must question ourselves, “If you are a person with a brain, why do people leave Akufo Addo alone to insult Mahama amid the carnage?” The answer is simple, “he is 500% more intellectual than Akufo-Addo, and everyone knows that.”

Corruption is endemic in African politics because the legal system is too weak to combat it and because the law itself is corrupt. Why then do people criticize Mahama while ignoring the harm that Akufo Akufo Addo has done to the nation with his pervasive corruption, extreme laziness, gross incompetence, and arrogance? Assuming that Mahama wasn’t perfect in the past, why people have failed to realize the extensive damage Akufo Addo has done to this nation after he promised to improve things for the people? Mahama isn’t a fool like Akufo Addo, which is why people hate him and he will never be.

Mahama has outperformed Akufo Akufo in terms of intelligence and productivity. His accomplishments spread to the Ashanti people, where, after more than seven years in power, Akufo Addo began to make improvements as a result of the by-election. However, as soon as Joel Savage writes and it hits them hard, they will either call his article trash or accused him of receiving payment from the NDC. This is in contrast to the fact that whenever someone writes against Mahama and insults him, despite what he has accomplished in the country, nobody accuses them of hating the former Ghanaian leader or calls their articles trash.

Such people should be dealt with by God harshly and without any mercy because they contributed to and are accountable for the disaster that has befallen our country. I have always warned Ghanaians that Akufo Addo is not the best person to lead the country and that appointing his relative Ken Ofori-Atta as finance minister will bring the country to its knees. I was constantly attacked, as usual, but now that the dust has settled, Ghanaians can see it clearly and comprehend all I was trying to tell them. Without any shame, they try to pull me down but who can pull Joel Savage down?

Mahama has many enemies because he is not stupid and as foolish as Akufo Addo. He ponders things carefully, as all reasonable people should. He hasn’t demolished government buildings without replacing them, and he most certainly wouldn’t demolish the hospital serving the La-Teshie-Nungua people if he knew there wasn’t enough money to construct a replacement. Akufo Addo’s foolish and dumb action won’t be taken by Mahama. The fact that he refused to act foolishly like Akufo Addo is making his enemies very unhappy and kept them up at night.

Certain writers hate Mahama and their actions have rather let the majority of Ghanaians know that John Mahama is better than Akufo-Addo. How do you consider yourself an intelligent writer by ignoring all the crimes of Akufo-Addo, including illegal mining that has polluted all the water bodies in Ghana, engaging in illegal gold trade that has cost the nation millions, and going against someone whose leadership in Ghana established a booming economy? I am not saying Mahama is a saint but Akufo-Addo has done more harm to Ghana than any Ghanaian leader.

Anyone who believes that Ghana is doing better now than it was during the Mahama administration is not acting like a normal person. He will soon join the insane people who are camped out in cemeteries and under bridges. Gone are those that I feel bad about those who constantly criticize and insult me, including my parents, whenever I write. These days, I don’t care because those who do so actually know you hit the nail at the right place or stepped on a tender spot that hurt them, and so they insult you out of resentment.

If you want to know if Akufo-Addo is intelligent, consider why he can’t build but enjoys changing the names of Ghanaian institutions and historical events. Alternatively, pay attention to the pointless claims he constantly makes to determine how sluggish he is. Consider the question of why Akufo-Addo wants to sell Ghana’s property one more time. More importantly, think about why this president is reluctant to tell Ghanaians what he did with the money despite having a substantial debt there. Do the gullible writers truly think that insulting Mahama will change anything in Ghana? That’s why Akufo-Addo is failing.

It’s time to acknowledge that their relentless criticism of Mahama has raised awareness among enlightened Ghanaians that he is unique and that nothing or anybody can diminish his intelligence or compare him to the stupid Akufo-Addo era. While I am aware that Akufo-Addo and Ken Ofori-Atta are to blame for the tragedies that have befallen the country, I will not remain silent in response to false charges and attacks against John Dramani Mahama. God is my judge, so I don’t care if I’m called names or even if I’m accused of taking money from the NDC.

Watch Henry Asante Twum defend Kurt Okraku’s family and friends GFA allegations

The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, has responded to claims that the GFA President, Kurt Okraku, is running a family and friends administration at the country’s football headquarters.

Kurt Okraku has faced allegations of appointing individuals closely associated with Dreams FC, ranging from the Head of Marketing at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to the Manager of GFA Facilities, the Team Manager of the Black Stars, the Chief of Staff at the GFA, and other officials of the Black Satellites.

According to critics, Kurt Okraku appointed his wife, sisters, old-school friends, and other associates from Dreams FC to very lucrative positions.

Key among his accusers is the son of King Faisal financier, Alhaji Karim Gruzah, Fawaz Gruzah who cited issues of nepotism and discrimination under Kurt Okraku-led GFA.

In a sharp rebuttal, the GFA Communications Director claimed that Alhaji Gruzah was running a similar family and friends’ administration at his private club, King Faisal Babes.

“Another unfortunate statement from Alhaji Karim Grusah. Because Alhaji Karim Grusah, he made his son the CEO when he formed King Faisal. Is his son a university lecturer? So what is he talking about?” Henry Asante Twum said.

Western, Western North Regional GBA hold church service for 41st anniversary of murdered judges

Judges, lawyers, and members of the Western and Western North Regional branches of the Ghana Bar Associations (GBA), on Sunday, attended church service at the Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Cathedral in Takoradi to mark the 41 anniversary of three murdered High Court judges.

In attendance were the Supervising High Court, High Court Judges, and Lower Court Judges.

Glowing tributes were paid to the three murdered judges- Justice Fred Poku Sarkodee, Justice Cecilia Koranteng Addow, and Justice Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong.

The three judges and a retired army officer Major Sam Acquah were abducted on the night of June 30, 1982, and brutally murdered at Bundase Range in the Accra plains

In a sermon, Reverend Father Lawrence Krah, the Cathedral Administrator, asked judges and lawyers to emulate Jesus Christ in their line of duties by being fair, just and honest.

He described the three murdered judges as martyrs since they were killed because they stood for truth and justice.

In that regard, he urged judges and lawyers to emulate the three martyrs and ensure that they exhibited fairness and justice without fear or favour in their duties.

Rev. Fr. Krah asked them to always stand for righteousness, truth and justice and continue to pray for wisdom and understanding in their work.

Biographies of the three murdered judges were read and prayers were said for the repose of the souls.

Prayers were also said for the country and its leaders and the judiciary.

The Association later presented an undisclosed among of money to the church, while the Cathedral Administrator presented a holy rosary each to all the Association members who were in attendance.

Sarkodie should bow down his head in shame for disrespecting womanhood

In my native Goka, we say: “k?firikwanso? na ?ware temanmuhunu”. To wit: it’s the idle stranger who marries a useless native woman.

And in Sarkodie, the acclaimed Ghanaian rapper, the above Bono adage seem to rare its ugly head, vis-à-vis the estranged relationship he had with an actress and now author, Yvonne Nelson. A woman he now tells the whole world that she’s a whore who subsisted on street-life (sic).

Sarkodie is a disgrace to ‘manhood’

He is the idle kofirikwanso? stranger that marries the useless native whore in the woman she now takes to the cleaners. If I’ll have my way to chair the gathering of ‘Players Club’, I’ll sanction him for bringing shame to the Men of Valour fraternity. Now our market will surely dwindle in value. (Only legends can relate).

Yvonne Nelson released her memoir not long ago, claiming in a part that an affair she had with Sarkodie developed a seed. She informed Sarkodie who was three years her junior (25 and 22 years respectively for Yvonne and Sark then).

Sarkodie denied paternity of the unborn baby, and in the end the foetus was aborted. That alone ended Yvonne in an unforgettable traumatic distress.

In her book, Yvonne, though was pained to be jilted by Sarkodie whom she later learned came into her life because his true love was schooling abroad; never used expletives or denigrating tongue against the rapper to the wildest imagination of nonpartisan and objective reader like myself.

She even praised Sarkodie at some point in that book titled: I’m Not Yvonne Nelson, that the acclaimed fastest rapper recorded a song to support her nationwide protest against intermittent power cuts in the country during president John Mahama’s regime, dubbed #Dumsor Must Stop.

This was about half a decade after their love affairs ended in a moral crime of killing a baby she never knew of his or her future, but caused the murder because of the fear of nursing a fatherless baby as she the actress’s case has been from birth till today.

She never, and still does not know her father. And no one will wish same for his or her progeny. Especially when she lived in a society that cared much about such parenthood question, and will with stigma, prejudice you anytime because you don’t have a cover and protection in a father figure. Your actions and inactions are attributed to how your father train you at home if you’re a child growing up in Ghana.

Such had been Yvonne’s pain, and she expressed so with utmost decorum and circumspection in the book I’ve loved reading and will recommend for all readers.

Sarkodie on the other hand, apparently goaded on by his many hollow cymbals of flies friends, he has released a rejoinder in his comfortable Twi language to rebut Yvonne Nelson’s ‘I’m Not Yvonne Nelson’ widely patronised book.

Days after its released, Yvonne’s book was third most sought after memoir on the Amazon trading platform.

Truth be told, Sarkodie should have closed his mouth. He would have been deemed wiser than now he has responded to the claims in the book.

The singer admitted in his villainous unentertaining single song, ‘Try Me’, that though he has bought a copy of the book, but he’s yet to read it.

A typical Ghanaian half-baked literate, he never reads a page of a book, but will have tens of pages comments to make about what is written in there. The average Ghanaian student only reads seriously when he or she prepares to write a promotional or certificate awarding exams, and this studiousness even happens when the candidate cannot scheme out ways to cheat in the exams.

Sarkodie, without reading his former girlfriend’s book, upon hearsay of synopsis from the book, he went on a rampaging riot against an innocuous memoir that meant no malice against a colleague artiste she gave all the benefits of the doubts to come clear with responses.

Sarkodie with this release of his acidic verbal diarrhoea exposes his insecurities, and reveals his level of intelligence and maturity.

I wonder if he’s aware of the #Me Too Movement that got women all over the world stripping naked of so called ‘big men’ that took advantage of womanhood, and landed some entertainment gurus in Hollywood like Harvey Weinstein behind bars?

Within the storm, one man I have now come to admire, most survived and won his case against another woman who brought sexual assault charges against him following the aftermath of their marriage that hit the rocks. I’m talking about Jonny Depp and the Amber Heard infamous media frenzy case last year, in the US Court.

When the actress, Amber Heard filed a case in court against her former husband, actor Jonny Depp, when the woman played the victim, the man did not show his muscles to appear villainous in the court, but also reflected the victim mirror presented to him. In the end, quite unusual, the hated man in the court of public opinion triumphed gainfully in the judicial court.

Such should be how our ilk’s of true sagely noblemen act. We must respect womanhood unconditionally even as we assume our natural position in creation as the head of the family. We don’t fight women!

Concluding it, if it’s a circus stage-play the two silver-screen actors have started releasing in episodes to viewers, then Yvonne Nelson has won the public sympathy now against Sarkodie in this scene. The ‘I’m Not Yvonne Nelson’ author has beaten to pulp, and dragged in the mud the ‘Try Me’ rapper in this chapter of the battle.

Sarkodie should apologise to womanhood in the next episode or bow down his head in shame and exit the arena unceremoniously.
