YOLO Actor Drogba Announces Father’s Funeral Amid Health Struggles

Accra: Ghanaian actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba, has announced the final funeral rites of his late father. The actor shared this personal news on X on April 20, 2026, expressing his grief with a heartfelt message.

According to Ghana Web, Drogba wrote, "Dad, you passed on, yet I am very sad because I'm still here, drowning in excruciating pain for years. This is very hard for me, honestly." This announcement comes at a challenging time for Drogba, who has been battling Stiff Person Syndrome Disorder, specifically GAD-positive Cerebellar Ataxia with or without SPS overlap, for nearly three years.

The debilitating condition has left Drogba in chronic pain, necessitating medical intervention estimated to cost over $88,000. His father, Ben Auua Peasah, also known as Barcelona, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra. He is expected to be laid to rest on May 2, 2026, at Old Tafo in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, Drogba has continued to appeal publicly for financial support to fund his treatment. Reports recently emerged that businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama had offered to cover the medical expenses. In response to this development, Drogba stated, "Mr Ibrahim Mahama case: I'll speak on it soon."
