Sunyani: The Management of the Fiapre Notre Dame Senior High School in the Sunyani West Municipality has confirmed the sudden demise of Ms. Jecenta Kyerewaa Appiah, a final year student of the school.
According to Ghana News Agency, a joint statement issued by the management and the Parent Teacher Association of the school revealed that Appiah, a science student, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, after writing her last paper in the just-ended West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The statement, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, noted that the death occurred at the Sunyani Seventh Day Adventist Hospital (SDA) where she was on admission. Preliminary investigations indicated that Appiah complained of uneasiness after leaving the examination hall, was rushed to the hospital, and was pronounced dead on arrival.
The statement further mentioned that the management and PTA executives of the school had visited and expressed their condolences to the bereaved families. It added that the body of the deceased had been deposited at the hospital's mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The burial and final funeral rites of the deceased are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Seikwa-Bepoase in the Tain District of the Bono region, her hometown.
