Trump Introduces Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program with 1% Commission

Washington:US President Donald Trump has announced a new initiative aimed at combating taxpayer fraud by incentivizing whistleblowers with monetary rewards.

According to Ghana Web, the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program was unveiled at the White House and offers a 1% commission to individuals who provide information leading to the prosecution of fraud cases involving public funds. This announcement was made in the Oval Office, with Vice President JD Vance and journalist Nick Shirley in attendance, as part of efforts to address the misuse of taxpayer money.

The program, initially described as a $25 million initiative by a White House official, is to be managed by the Department of Justice. It offers rewards of up to $30,000 for information that leads to successful fraud convictions or significant enforcement actions at the federal level. However, Trump's remarks suggested a different reward structure, emphasizing a 1% commission on identified amounts, in accordance with applicable regulations.

President Trump stated that journalists could also be eligible for rewards under the program, provided they comply with relevant regulations and obtain necessary approvals from their employers. The program allows Americans to report suspected fraud via the government's dedicated website, fraud.gov.

Additionally, Trump mentioned that he would personally resolve disputes over reward claims, ensuring that decisions are made quickly and fairly. Vice President Vance highlighted that the program stemmed from discussions with Trump about involving the public in fraud investigations, emphasizing that those who assist will share in the rewards.

The initiative is designed to encourage the public to come forward with information that could help authorities prosecute those guilty of defrauding taxpayers.
