Sefwi Akaasu (WN/R), 18 July, GNA – Mr Alfred Amoah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai has handed over three community Health-Based Planning Services (CHPS) compounds to some communities in the Municipality.
The facilities formed part of government’s vision to provide a health centre at least in one electoral area within the country to ensure the well-being of the people.
The beneficiary communities are; Sefwi Ntakam, Akaaso and Akaasu.
At separate ceremonies to hand over the facilities to the community members through the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the MCE appealed to health workers to serve with humility and accord the patients with the maximum respect to attract patronage at the facilities.
Mr Amoah said the CHPS compound comes with a well-furnished accommodation facility for staff to ensure they stayed closer to the health centres to attend to emergencies at night.
Dr. Marion Okoh-Owusu the Western North Regional Director of Ghana Health Service, who received the keys to the facilities, encouraged the residents of the beneficiary communities to register with the Health Insurance Scheme and tasked those with expired cards to renew them to guarantee access for health care.
Dr. Okoh-Owusu said, the facilities would also save the beneficiary communities from traveling for many hours to access health care either at Bibiani or Sefwi Bekwai government hospitals.
The Chief of Sefwi Akaasu, Nana Kwabena Nketia ll, commended the former MP and the MCE for their joint efforts to provide them with the health centre and pledged to ensure regular maintenance of the facility to preserve it for unborn generations.
