Why music legend Amakye Dede quit football administration in Ghana

Ace sports presenter, Dan Kwaku Yeboah has disclosed that legendary musician Amakye Dede was forced to fold up his football club after persistent unfair officiating.

Kwaku Yeboah recounts that Amakye Dede established a football club and engaged former Ghana international, Kalilu Dramani as head coach.

The team as confirmed by former Ghana defender, Asante Frimpong Manso used to play in the defunct Middle League.

“Amakye Dede formed a team and recruited Kalilou Dramani as a coach. They cheated him till he gave up,” he said.

Frimpong Manso added “I remember quite well that they used to play in the Middle League. Kalilou called me to assist. It’s unfortunate.”

The issue of unfair officiating has long plagued Ghana football with occasional issues of referees handling clubs and players’ raw deals.

It has been said that former Ghana striker, Tony Yeboah exited the football administration in Ghana and sold out his Yegoala Football Club due to consistent demand for money by referees.

“I once told a referee in an away game to officiate fairly but to my surprise, he asked if I was a novice in Ghana’s league,” Yeboah was quoted as saying by Agyenkwa FM.

“Some of my players used to come to inform me about referees’ [requests] for bribes [in order for us to] continue to be in the league. But I told the players to play with their strength. If I didn’t quit, I would have fallen victim of bribery allegations.”

‘I don’t want to believe Vanessa has developed love for Funny Face again’ – Caleb Nii Boye

Ghanaian show host, Caleb Nii Boye, has shared his view on the issue of Funny Face and his ex-partner, Vanessa.

In an episode of E-Forum hosted by Abrantepa on GhanaWeb TV, Caleb highlighted the difficulties faced by Funny Face and the insults endured by some individuals due to his depressed state during his misunderstanding with Vanessa.

As someone who was closely associated with Funny Face during that time, Caleb stressed the importance of approaching the topic of Vanessa wanting Funny Face back in their children’s lives with caution.

He advised carefully considering the implications of statements made.

“While closely involved with Funny Face during that time when he wasn’t ready to speak to anybody, I witnessed the difficulties he faced and the insults endured by individuals like Bola Ray. Considering the current situation, it’s crucial to be careful with how you present your speech or statements,” Caleb said.

Caleb Nii Boye suggested that Vanessa’s desire to reunite with Funny Face may not solely stem from love but could be influenced by the pressure of caring for their four children.

The radio show host believes Vanessa’s living arrangements, where she still resides with her parents, and the fact that the children have different fathers may subject her to criticism and ridicule from relatives or others in her social circle.

He further added that these circumstances could plausibly contribute to her motivation to reconcile with Funny Face.

“I don’t want to believe the lady has developed anything like love again for him (Funny Face). I don’t think it’s about love. Maybe the pressure of taking care of four children is a part of the reason why she wants to come back,” Caleb explained.

Caleb Nii Boye also recalled a previous incident involving Vanessa’s involvement in selling a product called ‘Pussy Sweetener,’ which promised to tighten women’s private parts and keep men attracted.

Drawing a parallel between this venture and Hajia Bintu’s similar product, Caleb suggested that Vanessa’s motivation for reconciliation might be financially driven.

“I am shocked she is coming out now because when Funny Face’s issue came up, I saw her selling ‘Pussy Sweetener.’ I am saying it the way she put it out there. She said it would make your private part tight; when a man goes there, he will stay,” Caleb revealed.

In a recent interview with Kwaku Manu on May 23, 2023, Vanessa expressed her willingness to reconcile with Funny Face and reintegrate their family.

She emphasized her personal growth and maturity over time, acknowledging the experiences they had been through as a couple and the fact that they share three children.

Vanessa furthermore expressed her openness to spending a week or two with Funny Face, indicating her willingness to reconcile and reunite their family and dismissed any concerns about potential harm, implying that if Funny Face intended to hurt her, he would have done so already.

‘If you have an opinion about someone, you don’t have the right to insult the person’ – Kwabena Kwabena

Popular Ghanaian musician, Kwabena Kwabena, has tackled how some Ghanaians go about on social media insulting celebrities without giving a hoot.

During an interview with Zionfelix, Kwabena Kwabena emphasized that while it’s fine to share your views on someone’s choices, it’s not okay to insult them.

“If you have an opinion about someone, you don’t have the right to insult the person. All you can say is, for example, oh Zion, this shirt you are wearing if you wore the white one it would look better,” he said.

He stated that if you have an opinion about someone, you don’t have the right to insult them.

Instead, he suggested that people should express their views constructively and respectfully.

“Just because you expect me to wear something else and I didn’t but wore another thing, you feel you need to insult me.

“Personally, I think that’s my problem. Personally, me doing something and you don’t understand, and you will share your opinion, that’s fine, but if it becomes an insult and then you try to make the person feel less, that is problematic,” he added.

Kwabena Kwabena went on to say that insulting someone over their choices is not a nice thing to do and can make a person feel less.

He acknowledged that his music is a gift from God and that without it, he might not have had the opportunity to meet people like Zionfelix.

“If not for the gift(music) that God has given us to serve mankind with, I bet you would never meet me anywhere.

“I think we need to put some respect on what we say, and if you have something about someone to say, you can just share your view,” he stated.

The musician’s remarks come at a time when there is a growing concern about the rise of hate speech and insults on social media.

With many celebrities call for netizens to be respectful of other people’s opinions without attacking them.

Ypee rejects ‘eternally underground’ artiste tag in interview with Delay

Kumasi-based musician Ypee has vehemently rejected the ‘eternally underground’ tag bestowed on him by some people in his city, insisting that he is a successful musician and the highest-paid artiste from that side of the country currently.

The musician who has not shied away from talking about his wealth in an interview on The Delay Show indicated that it would be erroneous for anybody to downplay his prowess and popularity as he boastfully mentioned that he is the most featured Kumasi-based musician.

Based on his narrative, Delay, host of the show asked midway: “You have street credibility in Kumasi but some say you are eternally underground. Do you accept that?”

Maintaining his calm composure, Ypee said: “That’s their opinion.”

He continued: “No musician has performed at events in Kumasi more than I have, nobody has had a sold-out show than me. I have done it all. I am the most featured Kumasi artiste, I am the one who has sold out shows in Kumasi and other towns. I am the highest-paid artiste in Kumasi.”

“I’m not an underground musician. If I were, why would Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and the likes feature me on their songs? I’ve worked with Sarkodie; I have more features than every artiste since 2020.”

The musician paid reverence to Flowking Stone, Strongman, Kojo-Cue, Cabum and other senior colleagues who hail from Kumasi but strongly claimed supremacy over his generation.

“I was the topmost. All those who belong to my generation and those who came afterward, looked up to me, they had inspiration from me, so, they are all my children.

“I have two albums – Survival and Pvolution. They all did well,” he stated.
