Favouritism and Bias Hinder Talent Growth in Central Region, Says Lokal Shock

CAPE COAST: Emerging rapper Lokal Shock has voiced concerns over the detrimental effects of favouritism and bias on burgeoning talent within the Central Region’s showbiz industry. Despite collaborating with renowned superstar Shatta Wale on “Ebefa Remix,” Lokal Shock claims he has not received adequate support from his local community.

According to Ghana Web, Lokal Shock expressed his frustrations during an interview with Amansan Krakye, highlighting the persistent issue of selective support within the industry. “As for favouritism and bias in the Central Region showbiz industry, they’ve been doing it for a long time and they always have some particular artiste they support,” he remarked, emphasizing the lack of acknowledgment for his collaborative efforts with Shatta Wale.

Lokal Shock further elaborated on his experiences, noting the emotional toll of the situation. He stated, “God should bless those who support us because if I’ve been able to collabo with Shatta Wale and they won’t say anything about it,
then I don’t know what they expect from me again.” Despite the challenges, Lokal Shock remains hopeful for the growth of the region’s entertainment sector.

He urged regional unity in supporting local talent, questioning, “What at all are they looking for before they support us as a region, so if a talent is progressing, we should all be supportive because we are one.” Lokal Shock also pointed out the vast potential within the Central Region, lamenting that many talents are wasted due to biased practices within the industry.

The rapper’s candid remarks highlight a broader issue within the regional entertainment scene, calling for a more inclusive approach to nurturing local talent.
