Wontumi vs Afia Schwarzenegger: Maurice Ampaw slams Effah Dartey

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has launched an attack on his fellow legal practitioner, Captain (retired) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, accusing him of prematurely celebrating a court case that is still pending.

Ampaw claims that he, along with his client Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should be the ones rejoicing, as they took Nkrabea Dartey’s client Afia Schwarzenegger to court, resulting in the imposition of a fine on the socialite.

Speaking on his Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem on Wontumi TV on May 21, 2023, Ampaw criticized Effah Dartey for allowing his client, Afia Schwarzenegger, to insult Chairman Wontumi, who belongs to his political NPP.

“The second contempt, I said Afia has failed to comply with the terms, and I filed an application to the court, the court hasn’t held the matter then you are in the media jubilating that Afia has won, she has won what?

“So, Captain, it is sad that an NPP member Captain Effah Dartey…Afia is against the NPP she has attacked and insulted your party chairman, if it wasn’t me who stood up to defend, Afia would have continued to insult Chairman Wontumi and allege propaganda upon propaganda on him.

“But I stopped the impunity, I was the one who took her to court to silence her and made her pay money, and her curses couldn’t also do anything, I am the winner, I, lawyer Ampaw, I am the winner I didn’t pay even one cedi,” he said.

He alleges that Afia Schwarzenegger cursed him, but he managed to overturn those curses in the spiritual realm and subsequently sued her in court.

“After she cursed me, I took her to court and overshadowed her curses in the spiritual realm as well, she called ten gods to curse me which I reverted in the spiritual realm and took her to Tema court in addition, so if we want a champion, it is lawyer Ampaw who is champion, Chairman Wontumi is champion,” he added.

He then expressed further dissatisfaction and warned Effah Dartey to halt what he described as a “stupid propaganda agenda.” He asserted that if he continues in this manner, he will face the consequences, highlighting that despite his age, he appears to have a problem.

“And I have taken you to court for the second time which the case hasn’t been held and you claim you have won. You are sick, I think Effah Dartey you have a problem and you must be very careful…Afia’s case hasn’t been held and I am filing a different motion for the matter to be held afresh, so Afia, you have not won, Nkrabea Effah Dartey stop the propaganda and come and face me in court, if you are a lawyer who is good. Come and face me in court…and Effah Dartey let me warn you, listen to me, you are older than me but when you begin to do this stupid propaganda I will deal with you that way…I have seen that you are grown but you have a problem,” he fumed.

Addressing the ongoing court case, Ampaw clarified that he had filed a motion which is still awaiting a hearing.

Chairman Wontumi dragged Afia Schwarzenegger to court for allegedly violating the terms of her release in a previous contempt case.

However, after the first hearing of the case, it has been thrown out.

According to Afia’s lawyer, they arrived in court only to meet the absence of the complainant and his lawyers.

He also established that he only saw the writ of summons in a couple of newspapers, adding that he and his client were not served any notice to appear before the court on May 17, 2023.

Based on this development, he pleaded with the court to dismiss the case.

According to him, the court heeded him, and the case was dismissed primarily due to the absence of Chairman Wontumi and his legal team.

Afia Schwarzenegger was dragged to court in a fresh case, for violating the terms on which she was freed in an earlier contempt case.

One can recall that after Chairman Wontumi slapped the comedienne with a defamation suit, she reportedly failed to show up in court despite several cautions.

Things escalated, and she was sentenced to 10 days in prison, on the grounds of contempt, but she went into complete hiding.

She later turned herself in, issued an apology with remorse, and her lawyer prayed to the court that his client should be made to pay a fine instead.

In order to annul the 10-day prison sentence, the socialite was ordered to sign a bond of good behavior for 36 months, in addition to a fine of GHC60,000.

Afia was also ordered not to comment on the case on any platform during the pendency of the bond, with the court directing that any breach of these orders will warrant the socialite being hauled back.

But Chairman Wontumi, after analyzing events closely on social media, came to the realization that the socialite did not heed any of the court’s rules.

In that regard, Wontumi’s counsel issued another lawsuit seeking the court to haul back the comedienne.

You’re now challenging me in old age – Kufuor teases NAPO on his birthday

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has sarcastically told Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called NAPO, that he is challenging him in old age.

In a video in commemoration of the minister’s 55th birthday today, May 23, 2023, he wondered why the Manhyia South lawmaker is racing so fast in age.

“NAPO, I hear tomorrow is your birthday. You are racing very fast…do you want to be an old man like me? If you were born in 1968, if you do the calculations, you are now 54 or 55 years of age. Whatever it is, many happy returns. I have consistently advised you and wish to urge you to take things slowly. God Bless you,” he said.

NAPO is a trained medical doctor and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who served as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of the United Kingdom from 1999 to 2003.

Which club best suits Kudus Mohammed: Arsenal, Manchester United, or Newcastle United?

Most players’ biggest desire is to play in the Premier League, and when their teams come knocking, it is usually challenging to say no.

Black Stars player, Mohammed Kudus, has three Premier League clubs interested in him and will have to make a difficult decision this summer.

He has already turned down Ajax’s contract extension offer, making his intentions about leaving glaring.

Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are the clubs considering securing the Ghanaian’s signature, according to The Athletic.

Among the aforementioned teams, Arsenal and Newcastle have qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League whiles Man United will need a win and at least a draw to secure their ticket for UCL football.

Although playing in the UCL is essential, the systems of the clubs and the foreseeable potential of enhancing his game through the team setup will be critical in his decision-making regarding which club is the best match for him.

Kudus has been the star of the season for Ajax, putting up some remarkable performances for both club and country. His numbers this campaign are staggering.

He has managed 24 goals involvement (18 goals, 6 assists) in 41 games with one more game remaining to end the season.

He was rated as one of the best under-23 players at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with two goals in three games.

Kudus Mohammed began his career as a central attacking midfielder or offensive midfielder. However, this season, he has played as a winger, a false 9 (most played role), a second striker, and in the double pivot.

His strong points include his dribbling, ball retention, short passing, and positioning, as well as his scoring ability.

Given these traits, which of the three teams interested in him would best suit and develop his game?

Arsenal

Arsenal, just like Ajax, are a possession-based side but has different strategies in their possession style.

The ideal possession would be filling in Granit Xhaka’s box-to-box central midfield role, operating in the left channel for the Gunners.

Xhaka has announced that this is his last season at the North London side after 7 years.

Xhaka’s role requires energy, good passing range, ball retention, late runs into the box, and fairly a good goal scorer with good shooting techniques.

The requirements portray a vivid picture of Kudus Mohammed. Moreover, the Ghanaian has improved his goal scorer and could be counted on to improve Arsenal’s goal threat.

Also playing under, Mikel Arteta, the 22-year-old is assured of taking his game to the next level as the Spaniard has done with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Manchester United

Kudus Mohammed’s position at Manchester United is not as apparent as it appears with Arsenal.

United are more of a counter-attacking team and mostly relies on the direct and quick transition to break teams down. Kudus would thrive in such a setup with his drive and ball retention but only in the central area.

But under his former manager Erik Ten Haag, who started the course to unlock Kudus’ versatility, he would be used more in multiple positions and could end up lacking game time.

In the central midfield or offensive midfield role, Kudus would face competition from Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Scott MacTomminay, and Fred. Him being a new signing, he could overtake Mactomminay and Fred who do not have guaranteed spots.

However, breaking through the lineup will be way difficult due to the quality of Bruno and Eriksen. Bruno, Eriksen, and Casemiro forms Manchester United’s midfielder trio. Bruno and Eriksen usually rotate between being in a double pivot with Casemiro and playing behind the striker.

The manager could end up preferring to play Kudus on the wings, where he will battle with Anthony, Sancho, and Garnacho. These are typical wingers who would offer more than Kudus on the flanks.

This means, his adaption might slow down due to rotation in positions, which might affect his game time and go a long way to affect his development.

Newcastle

Unlike the two aforementioned teams, Newcastle United is more of a defensive side with a direct attacking style. They usually go long and aim for the second balls or lure teams in and hit on a counter.

A midfield of Bruno Guimaraes, Kudus Mohammed, and Joe Wollock will be a delight to watch when the team is in transition.

Kudus will throve in Newcatstle’s direct football because he is one of the best when in transition. He also has a good work rate and could contribute to the team when in defensive transitions.

Moreover, the competition at Newcastle is within his range. He arguably has a better profile than the quality available in the squad.

In conclusion, Mohammed Kudus best fit for Arsenal and Newcastle but his game will be much better under Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

‘I’m not paid as a minister, not even one cedi’ – Kojo Oppong Nkrumah

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has stated that he does not receive any additional payment as a minister in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government.

According to him, ministers who are also Members of Parliament do not receive a separate salary or allowance from the government.

Addressing concerns regarding the size of the government, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah clarified that the public’s focus should not be solely on the compensation budget but should also consider the division of funds between political appointees and non-political government workers.

He highlighted that the compensation budget encompasses both categories, with a significant portion allocated to non-political appointees such as rotational nurses and police personnel.

“If you talk about the size of the government…I believe you are talking about the size of the compensation budget, more especially the money which is used to pay government workers. That is divided into two parts, one part has to do with those who are not political appointees, like those I have been mentioning this morning, the rotational nurses, police, and others, when you talk about the compensation budget, there is part of it…but I believe that the one people are talking about has to do with political appointees.

“It is true that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo explained why he choose a certain number of ministers but there was a clause he added in which he explained that the majority of ministers he has appointed are Members of Parliament, and because they are members of parliament, they don’t take anything extra, it doesn’t cost the taxpayer anything extra on the compensation side.

“For me, that I am talking to you… they don’t pay me one cedi as Minister of State, because Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s policy is that, if you are a Member of Parliament and he gives you a minister or deputy minister, it is not even up to you to make a choice that you want this or not, you get paid on your MP salary. So, when people make this argument about the size of the government, the reality is that the majority of ministers who are Members of Parliament, don’t get paid extra,” he said. Speaking in an interview with Peace FM’s Kokrokoo on May 19, 2023, he further emphasized that President Akufo-Addo’s policy stipulates that if an MP is chosen to serve as a minister or deputy minister, they continue to be paid based on their existing MP salary and as a result, no extra burden is placed on taxpayers.
