Accra: Actor John Peasah, recognized for his role as Drogba in the popular television series YOLO, has opened up about his ongoing health struggle. He revealed that despite visiting around 12 hospitals, he has yet to find a cure for his rare neurological disorder, Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).
According to Ghana Web, Peasah shared his story during an interview on Onua Showtime. He recounted that his symptoms began after an incident at home, which he initially thought was the cause of his condition. However, doctors diagnosed him with Stiff Person Syndrome, the same disorder that affected singer Celine Dion.
Peasah described the extensive medical journey he has undergone, explaining that each hospital visit leads to new tests and medications, yet significant improvement remains elusive. 'I have visited about 12 hospitals for a cure, and each time, they conduct tests and run diagnoses,' he said, adding that the medications have left him feeling too full to eat.
The actor also touched on the personal impact of the disorder, noting that it has confined him largely to his home for the past six years due to the pain and physical limitations it imposes. His primary hope is to regain his health and return to normal life.
In pursuit of this goal, Peasah is seeking financial support for specialized treatment abroad. He estimates that he needs approximately $88,000 for a three-month treatment program outside of Ghana, as the necessary care is not available locally.
