BABMA MCE Praises Asante Gold Chirano for Educational Support

Bibiani: The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Sebastian Obeng, has commended Asante Gold Chirano Limited for its sustained support for education and community development in the municipality. He emphasized that the company's investment in education was expanding opportunities for young people and complementing the government's efforts in the sector.

According to Ghana Web, Sebastian Obeng made the remarks at the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation Scholarship Awards and Second Graduation Ceremony held on Thursday, September 10, 2026. A total of 24 students received scholarships at the ceremony, with eighteen selected under the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation Scholarship Scheme and six receiving support through the General Manager's Scholarship Scheme. This latest round of awards brings the total number of beneficiaries supported under the two scholarship schemes to 162.

The ceremony also recognized 21 beneficiaries who had successfully completed their respective programs of study. They form the second group of graduates produced by the scholarship scheme, following the graduation of 33 beneficiaries in the first group. The total number of beneficiaries who have graduated under the program now stands at 54.

The Chief of Sefwi Ahwiaa, Nana Kofi Nkoa, highlighted the results of the scholarship program as evidence of the achievements possible when companies, traditional authorities, communities, and public institutions collaborate towards a common goal. He emphasized that access to education must be accompanied by personal responsibility, hard work, and a willingness to use acquired knowledge to address challenges.

The Board Chairman of the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation, Kwaku Sarfo Duah, stated that the scholarship scheme was established to develop professionals who could contribute meaningfully to their communities and the wider economy. He noted that the Foundation's role went beyond awarding scholarships, as it also tracked the progress of beneficiaries to ensure the program delivered measurable results. "The success of this program will ultimately be determined by what our beneficiaries achieve and how they apply their knowledge. Today's graduation assures us that the investment is producing results," he said.

The General Manager of Asante Gold Chirano Limited, Ing. Stephen Asante Yamoah, congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and welcomed the new beneficiaries to the scholarship program. He remarked that graduation was an important milestone, but professional success would depend on continuous learning, discipline, adaptability, and ethical conduct. "Your certificate confirms that you have completed a program of study, but the value of your education will be demonstrated through the problems you solve, the standards you uphold, and the contribution you make wherever you find yourself," he said.

Sebastian Obeng also encouraged Asante Gold Chirano and the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation to maintain their engagement with communities within the company's operational area. He urged the scholarship beneficiaries to approach their education with discipline, commitment, and a clear sense of purpose.
