Accra: The Accra Circuit Court One has granted bail in the sum of GHC500,000.00 with three justified sureties to a 26-year-old woman, Abigail Oboshie Okoe, accused of unlawful control of narcotic drugs. The Court ordered that one of the sureties should be a civil servant earning not less than GHC5,000.00 and directed Okoe to report to the Police every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday pending investigations.
According to Ghana News Agency, Detective Chief Inspector Frederick Asare, prosecuting, informed the Court that the complainants were personnel from the Inspector-General of Police's Special Operations Unit Headquarters in Accra. Okoe, a trader at Madina Market, was apprehended on May 7, 2026, at Madina behind the lorry station following intelligence gathered by the Police.
The prosecutor revealed that a search conducted in her room led to the discovery of 'six and three quarters yellow cello taped compressed slabs of dried plant material.' During interrogation and in her caution statement, Okoe admitted knowledge of the exhibit found in her room but mentioned one 'Bro Kwaku,' also of Madina, as the person who allegedly gave it to her boyfriend, Victor Adongo, with whom she shared the room, for safekeeping.
The prosecution stated that the exhibit had been forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory for examination and that investigations were ongoing. Counsel for Okoe requested the Court to admit her to bail, arguing that she was gainfully employed, had persons of substance to stand as sureties, and would not interfere with investigations. The case has been adjourned to June 16, 2026.
