7 Dead, 21 Injured in Ahafo Road Crash

Ahafo: Seven people have died and 21 others sustained injuries in a fatal road crash on the Hwideim-Acherensua Highway in the Ahafo Region.

According to Ghana Web, the accident occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, involving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with registration number GT-9931-09 and a Kia Picanto with registration number BA-731-20. In a statement dated September 11, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported that preliminary findings indicated the Sprinter experienced a tyre burst, leading the driver to lose control. The vehicle then somersaulted and collided with the Kia Picanto, resulting in the casualties.

Firefighters from the Hwideim District Fire Station promptly responded to the incident, rescuing the victims and transporting them to St Elizabeth Hospital, Hwideim, for medical attention. The Ahafo Regional Commander of the GNFS, ACFO II Samuel Ferdie Tetteh, visited the injured at the hospital, expressing his wishes for their recovery.
