WiLAT Ghana Launches Bono Regional Branch to Foster Women’s Leadership in Transport

Fiapre: The Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) Ghana, part of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), has inaugurated its Bono Regional Branch. The inauguration took place during the 2026 Logistics and Transport Conference and Annual General Meeting of CILT at Fiapre near Sunyani.

According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Mabel Kabutey, National Chairperson of WiLAT Ghana, highlighted the critical role women play in enhancing the nation's transport and logistics sector. The event was themed 'Empowering Women, Transforming Transport and Logistics: Leadership, Advocacy and Sustainability.' Madam Kabutey emphasized that WiLAT was founded to inspire women to seek leadership roles and actively engage in decision-making within the industry.

She expressed hope that the establishment of the Bono Regional Branch would boost membership by offering networking and professional development opportunities. Furthermore, Madam Kabutey reiterated WiLAT's commitment to fostering leadership innovation and mentoring future women professionals in the sector.

Highlighting the organization's expansion, she noted that WiLAT Ghana is increasing its presence nationwide to adapt to the evolving logistics and transport industry. 'Women too have the requisite skills, ideas, and energy to lead the logistics and transport sector transformation agenda in the country,' she stated.

WiLAT has established itself in more than 40 countries with a membership exceeding 3,500, contributing to societal development. WiLAT Ghana has also donated 15 bicycles to female nurses in Ga East and Ga West Municipalities to aid their work. Additionally, between 2023 and 2025, the organization conducted breast cancer awareness and screening programs at the International Maritime Hospital (ImaH).

Madam Kabutey further mentioned WiLAT Ghana's efforts in supporting university students to form branches on their campuses and guiding their activities.
