Once completed, the project will extend potable water to Wenchi and surrounding areas, including Nkonsia, Koase, Asuano, Beposo, Yooyoano, Droboso, Low-cost, Gensoso, Awisa, Wurompo, Akete, Nwoase, and Tainso. This effort is part of the government's broader initiative to ensure the availability of potable water to urban and peri-urban communities.

Situated near the Tain River, the project is designed to produce 10,700 cubic meters of water per day, serving approximately 10 communities experiencing water shortages in the Wenchi Municipality and parts of the Tain District. With the project about 97 percent completed, it was initiated in 2020 to resolve the long-standing water crisis in Wenchi.
