We are also experiencing economic challenges — US resident tells Ghanaians

Ghanaians have been urged to sympathise with the Akufo-Addo-led government over current economic crises being experienced locally and globally.

Mr. Effah Ameyaw, Ghana National Council of Chicago and Midwest in the US disclosed this to Ohene Amoako (The Flag bearer) on Homebase TV’s ‘Delivering On Our Promises’ political show.

According to the US resident, the effect of COVID-19 and the impact of the Russian-Ukraine war have negatively affected world economies.

He revealed that homelessness in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic to the beginning of this year increased by 20%, according to the US Department of Housing.

He indicated many people who could not afford their house rent were forced to relocate to the Department of Housing for shelter as they were ejected by property owners.

On the Russian-Ukraine war, Mr. Ameyaw explained that it has delved a heavy blow on livelihoods as prices of goods and services have increased astronomically.

“Due to the war, prices of goods have gone up because sellers factor cost of transportation in pricing them. And I must say it has really affected many people,” he stated.

He complained of buying gas at $45-50 dollars as compared to the $24 dollars before the Russian-Ukraine war struct.

The Host, Ohene Amoako also assured Ghanaians that the IMF bailout will help deal with most of the economic challenges.

He further urges Ghanaians to support policies and measures of Government to deliver them from the economic hardship.
