Accra: A prison officer who was at his duty post was captured in a ceremonial-style procession by traditional kingmakers as part of preparations to install him as a chief.
According to Ghana Web, a widely circulated video on social media shows the officer being taken from his post by traditional guards to undergo customary rites ahead of his installation. The footage captures the officer seated at his duty post when the traditional kingmakers approached him, lifted him, and carried him on their shoulders while drumming, dancing, and performing traditional rituals.
His colleague officers were also seen following the procession as they joined in celebrating his transition into his new traditional role. The video was accompanied by the caption, "Duty calls, but tradition calls louder. Watch the moment traditional kingmakers arrived at a prison officer's duty post to take him."
This unique event highlights the blend of traditional practices with modern responsibilities, as the prison officer was chosen for enstoolment as a chief of a traditional area.
