Watch as Chinese Nationals Perform Sacrifice at Suspected Galamsey Site

Accra: A video showing two Chinese nationals and some Ghanaians allegedly performing a ritual at an illegal mining site has sparked reactions on social media. In the video, shared on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on July 27, 2026, the two foreigners, together with several Ghanaians, were seen beheading an animal on the bank of a river as part of what appeared to be a sacrificial ritual.

According to Ghana Web, the footage shows the group carrying out the ritual at an undisclosed location believed to be an illegal mining site. In the less-than-one-minute video, one of the Chinese nationals is seen beheading the animal, while another lights red candles as part of the ceremony.

Following the circulation of the video, many Ghanaians have taken to social media to share differing opinions. While some users expressed concern over the continued rise in illegal mining and the challenges facing the government's efforts to combat the menace, others questioned the alleged performance of rituals by the Chinese nationals before engaging in the suspected illegal mining activities.
