Accra: The Ghana Prisons Service has declared a 29-year-old inmate, Peter Kyeremeh, wanted after he allegedly escaped from lawful custody. Kyeremeh was serving a five-year prison sentence with hard labour after he was convicted of unlawful entry and stealing.
According to Ghana Web, the Ghana Prisons Service shared a notice on its Facebook page on August 15, 2026, urging the public to assist in locating the escaped inmate. The notice, captioned 'ALERT, Escape from Lawful Custody,' described Kyeremeh as fair in complexion and slim in stature.
The Service appealed to anyone who may have information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or prison establishment. The notice stated, 'If seen or captured kindly contact the nearest Police Station, any Prison Establishment or call 0506232978.'
The Ghana Prisons Service also urged members of the public to provide relevant information that could assist authorities in apprehending Kyeremeh and returning him to custody.
