Algiers: Algeria secured a historic third-place finish at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations after defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Morocco initially took the lead in the 37th minute with a goal from Kautar Azraf, giving the Atlas Lionesses an early advantage.

According to Ghana Web, Algeria remained determined and found the equalizer in the 83rd minute through Lina Boussaha. The match then proceeded to a penalty shootout as neither team could score again before the final whistle.

In the penalty shootout, Algeria maintained composure and emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, claiming their first-ever WAFCON podium finish.
