Accra: Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa East Constituency, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare delivery through the renovation, upgrading, and provision of equipment to health facilities in two communities.
According to Ghana News Agency, the interventions included the renovation and upgrading of the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Kpaglahi to a Health Centre, as well as the renovation and provision of equipment to the Gudaayiri Health Centre. Dr Jasaw expressed his pride in the healthcare workers, likening their efforts to those of teachers, and emphasized the importance of collaboration in providing quality healthcare to the community.
Speaking at a brief ceremony at Kpaglahi to commission the renovated facility, Dr Jasaw highlighted the necessity of the projects due to the poor state of the previous structures. He stressed that access to quality healthcare is central to development, as it enables citizens to be more productive and improve their livelihoods.
Dr Jasaw further explained that upgrading the Kpaglahi facility to a Health Centre aims to reduce referrals to other health facilities, which often pose financial and transportation challenges. The renovation of the Gudaayiri Health Centre and the provision of necessary equipment are expected to create a more conducive environment for healthcare delivery.
The MP pointed out that the facilities serve multiple communities and require additional health personnel, modern medical equipment, and further expansion to meet increasing demand. Jinpenhi Naa, Naa Kadri Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the renovations, noting that they would enhance healthcare delivery. However, he also appealed for improvements to the poor road conditions affecting access to emergency healthcare and essential services.
Dr Benjamin Aminyuure, the Wa East District Director of Health Services, thanked the MP for the facelift, which he believes will significantly enhance healthcare delivery. He also appreciated the MP's plans to upgrade the Bullenga facility to a polyclinic and complete the Agenda 111 hospital project at Funsi.
Mr Adamu Sayibu, the Wa East District Chief Executive, encouraged residents to maintain the facilities to ensure their sustainability.
