According to ghana news agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the initiative is designed to support existing national programmes that provide employment and training opportunities for the youth across the Volta Region. Mr Alagbo pointed out that over 2,700 young people in the region have benefited from industrial training, gaining practical skills necessary for the job market.
Furthermore, programmes under the Youth Employment Agency have engaged approximately 3,350 young people in various modules, offering short- to medium-term employment while pursuing longer-term solutions. Through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), around 10,000 young Ghanaians, including those from the Volta Region, are receiving training and support to expand businesses or start new ventures.
Despite these efforts, Mr Alagbo stressed the need for additional opportunities for the region's youth. He urged for greater inclusion of Volta youth in national recruitment exercises, especially in security services and other public institutions. He also praised Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, for initiating the Volta Youth Development Fund and appealed to corporate bodies, development partners, and individuals to contribute to the fund to bolster youth entrepreneurship and improve livelihoods in the region.
