Accra: Media personality Vim Lady has expressed concerns over Abu Trica’s recent television interview following his arrest, suggesting it could negatively impact his legal defense in the United States. Vim Lady emphasized the importance of the right to remain silent, which Abu Trica did not exercise, potentially complicating his legal standing.
According to Ghana Web, Vim Lady highlighted that both Ghanaian and American legal systems uphold an accused individual’s right to silence, warning that any voluntary statements could be used as evidence in court. In a video shared on social media, she stressed that Abu Trica should have refrained from public commentary on the allegations against him.
Vim Lady noted the significance of Trica’s choice to speak on TV3 after being taken into custody by US authorities. She explained that his statements during the interview could be leveraged by American prosecutors, with the FBI possibly incorporating his admissions into their case.
During the interview, Abu Trica reportedly acknowledged receiving funds central to the investigation, a move Vim Lady argues could strengthen the prosecution’s case. She pointed out that such admissions might ease the burden on prosecutors to prove the alleged romance scam and money laundering activities beyond a reasonable doubt.

She assured the public that the FBI’s role does not extend to exercising power within Ghana but involves partnering on transnational cases.
