Accra: A total of 1,156 students who underwent graduate and undergraduate degree programmes have graduated from the Valley View University (VVU).
According to Ghana News Agency, 700 students graduated from the university's main campus in Accra, 237 from the Kumasi campus, and 219 from the Techiman campus. At the 34th graduation ceremony held at the Techiman campus in the Bono East Region, Professor Daniel Ganu, Vice Chancellor of VVU, encouraged the graduates to uphold their integrity as they transitioned into the labor market.
Professor Ganu emphasized the importance of character, suggesting that it would often be tested more than intelligence. He advised graduates to avoid shortcuts to success and to pursue excellence with integrity, noting that doing one's best, even when unnoticed, defines true integrity and dependability.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the significance of adapting to technological advancements and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance their careers. He stressed that while their degrees may open initial opportunities, their attitude, competence, and willingness to grow would determine further success.
Professor Ganu remarked on the necessity for both skilled and trustworthy graduates in the nation, capable of handling money, information, and responsibility. He advised the graduates to safeguard their reputation and conscience, warning against the dangers of a rapid ascent without character.
Throughout his address, Professor Ganu reminded the graduates of the importance of building a career on truth and trust, rather than solely pursuing material gains. He concluded by announcing that the university was introducing new programmes in Law, Cybersecurity, Medicine, Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence.
