Have: Professor Frank Daniel Konku, a lecturer based in the United States and native of Have, has generously donated laboratory furniture valued at nearly GHS20,000 to the Have E.P. Basic Schools A and B in the Afadzato South District. This donation aims to bolster the institutions' science, technology, and practical learning capabilities.
According to Ghana News Agency, during a brief ceremony held to hand over the laboratory items, Prof. Konku highlighted that his contribution was a response to the school's appeal for furnishing its BSTEM laboratory to enhance teaching and learning. The donation comprises six laboratory tables, 60 laboratory chairs, and a facilitator table and chair, providing essential resources for practical lessons and fostering a conducive educational environment for both learners and educators.
Prof. Konku, who is also a philanthropist and former resident of Have, emphasized the importance of proper maintenance of the donated items to ensure their longevity. He urged the school community to take ownership of the furniture, stressing that supporting education is a collective responsibility. He expressed hope that this intervention would enhance the quality of practical education and inspire students to develop a keen interest in science and technology.
Mr. Johannes Ekpe-Asrevi, Headteacher of Have E.P. Basic School, expressed his gratitude to Prof. Konku, noting that the donation fulfilled a significant longstanding need of the school. He called the intervention a timely response to the school's educational challenges and thanked Prof. Konku for his support. Furthermore, he appealed to other citizens of Have, alumni, organizations, and well-wishers to follow Prof. Konku's example by contributing to the school's infrastructure, teaching, and learning resources.
The headteacher noted that the development of the BSTEM laboratory would enable students to acquire practical skills and apply classroom knowledge to real-life scenarios, particularly in science and technology-related fields. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO), executives from the Parent-Teacher Association and School Management Committee, local chiefs and elders, the Local Manager, facilitators, and learners, all of whom expressed their support for ongoing community engagement in the school's development.
