Accra: The US Embassy in Accra has announced the immediate availability of over 1,000 non-immigrant visa interview slots, providing an opportunity for prospective travelers to secure appointments as early as next week.
According to Ghana Web, a notice posted on the embassy's Facebook page on February 17, 2026, urged Ghanaians planning to apply for a US visa to promptly book their interviews. The embassy highlighted that several B1/B2 visa slots, designated for business and tourism travel, are currently open, encouraging applicants to seize the opportunity.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the United States to streamline travel arrangements in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which it will co-host with Mexico and Canada. "There are more than 1,000 B1/B2 visa appointment slots available in the next week - one of those could be yours," the notice stated.
Applicants with appointments scheduled later in the year have been advised to consider rescheduling for an earlier date if possible. "Book a new appointment - or move up one scheduled for later in the year - we want to interview you now!" the embassy added.
Prospective applicants are also encouraged to visit the embassy's official visa page for comprehensive details on requirements and application procedures. This development is expected to alleviate the extended waiting times for visa interview appointments that travelers have experienced in recent months.
