Mankessim: Council Member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Region, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, has charged the winners of the recently held regional executives' elections to extend the olive branch to those who lost as soon as possible. He emphasized that unity is crucial for the party as it prepares to challenge the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.
According to Ghana Web, Ofori Asiamah made this appeal shortly after the Central Regional NPP executives' elections held in Mankessim. He expressed the importance of including everyone in the party's agenda, regardless of the election outcomes, to ensure a collective effort in the upcoming political battle. "For me, those who won, I think that they should stretch the olive branch to those who lost," he stated, urging for fairness and inclusivity.
Ofori Asiamah also addressed concerns regarding the NPP's current standing in the Central Region, where the party holds only four parliamentary seats. He highlighted the necessity of unity to pose a strong challenge to the NDC in the region. "We have four constituencies, and that is not what we want to be," he voiced his worry, encouraging a united front to enhance their competitiveness.
Asiamah, who is also the former Transport Minister, stressed the significance of numbers in politics, reiterating that unity with a common purpose is essential for victory. He expressed confidence that a unified NPP could secure the Central Region, which would be instrumental in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's presidential aspirations.
Furthermore, Ofori Asiamah praised the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police Service, the party, and the organizational team for conducting fair and peaceful elections. In the election results, five out of eleven Central Regional NPP executives retained their positions, with Dr. Joseph Kobina Essibu emerging as the newly elected Central Regional NPP Chairman.
