Nairobi: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and TAILG, a leading electric mobility company, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Kenya for the Green Mobility Centre of Excellence (GM-CoE). The initiative aims to advance sustainable development in Africa and beyond through green, low-carbon mobility projects.
According to Ghana News Agency, the strategic partnership between UNDP and TAILG focuses on implementing flagship projects that promote sustainable regional development goals. The collaboration will involve technological innovation, ecosystem development, and industry incubation to support these objectives.
The MOU outlines a comprehensive framework for long-term cooperation, emphasizing the establishment, operation, and large-scale development of the GM-CoE. This center is expected to be a crucial foundation for the growth of Africa's green and low-carbon mobility industry.
TAILG will play an integral role in project operations, governance, and the creation of an innovation system. The company will also be involved in implementing ecosystem projects and facilitating international technical exchanges, thereby establishing a sustainable platform for Africa's green technology innovation ecosystem.
As a key partner in green mobility, TAILG operates seven research and development and manufacturing bases globally, with an annual production capacity exceeding 15 million units. Its products and services reach over 70 countries and regions, providing a strong industrial foundation for implementing green projects internationally.
Michael Yao, President of TAILG, emphasized the significance of this partnership with UNDP, highlighting its potential to drive high-quality global development. TAILG plans to leverage its new energy technologies to promote green mobility, gasoline-to-electric conversion, and carbon reduction projects across Africa.
