UN Commission of Inquiry Condemns Attacks on Iran by Israel and US

New york: A UN commission of inquiry has condemned the attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran, asserting that they violate the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force against a country's territorial integrity or political independence.

According to Ghana News Agency, the commission, an independent body of experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council in 2022 to investigate human rights violations in Iran, also expressed concern over Iran's retaliatory strikes in the region. The UN Charter is regarded as a kind of constitution for the international community, enshrining shared principles.

'The Iranian population is now caught between a large-scale military campaign that may go on for weeks or months, and a government with a long record of gross human rights violations,' the commission said in a statement.
