Suhum: Two people, a male and a female, have died while six others sustained severe injuries in a road crash at Dr. Marbel Junction in Suhum on the Accra-Kumasi Highway. The accident involved a DAF truck, a VW Sprinter bus, and a tricycle known locally as Pragia.
According to Ghana Web, the collision, which occurred on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, resulted in the instant death of two individuals. A rescue team from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station swiftly responded to the incident, deploying extrication equipment to save victims trapped in the wreckage.
The six injured persons were promptly transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue.
Preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service revealed that the DAF truck allegedly suffered a brake failure. This mechanical issue caused the driver to lose control and crash into the VW Sprinter bus, which then collided with a parked tricycle.
The front portions of both the DAF truck and the VW Sprinter bus suffered partial damage, while the tricycle was completely destroyed.
