Twenty-Three-Year-Old Sentenced to Seven Years for Defilement

Hohoe: A 23-year-old man, Felix Agbodzi, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being found guilty of defiling a 12-year-old girl. Agbodzi admitted to the charge and was subsequently convicted based on his own plea.

According to Ghana News Agency, Inspector Felix Kwao, the Public Relations Officer for the Volta North Regional Police Command in Hohoe, stated in a release that initial investigations revealed Agbodzi lured the young victim to his home, where the abuse occurred. The incident led to Agbodzi's arrest on April 13, 2026, and his subsequent arraignment in the Hohoe Circuit Court. The case was presided over by Mr. Lambert Y. Kariba, who charged Agbodzi with defilement, in violation of section 101 (2) of the Criminal Offences Act of Ghana, 1960 (Act 29).

Inspector Kwao emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting criminal activities, including defilement. He assured that the police command is committed to ensuring individuals involved in such crimes are subjected to the full extent of the law.
