Kadjebi: Twenty-nine individuals have picked nomination forms to contest various Constituency Executive positions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Buem Constituency of the Oti Region. Mr Patrick Dzidzornu, the Buem NPP Research and Elections Officer, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kadjebi.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Dzidzornu highlighted the keen interest shown by party members, which reflected their commitment to strengthening the party's structures ahead of future political activities and elections. He stated that the Chairmanship position was being contested by two aspirants, while two individuals had also picked forms to vie for the first Vice-Chairman position.
The second Vice-Chairmanship position emerged as the most competitive race, with six aspirants in the running. Additionally, two candidates are contesting the Secretary position, while three have picked nomination forms for the Deputy Secretary position.
Mr Dzidzornu further revealed that four aspirants are competing for the Organiser portfolio, and two candidates are in the race for the Youth Organiser position. For the Women Organiser position, three candidates have picked forms, whereas the Communications Officer position has two contenders.
The Treasurer position sees two aspirants, while the Nasara Coordinator role stands out with only one candidate, making him unopposed. Mr Dzidzornu urged all aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and according to the party's rules and regulations, advising against insults, personal attacks, and name-calling.
Emphasizing the internal family nature of the contest, Mr Dzidzornu stressed the importance of selecting competent leaders to steer the party's affairs in the constituency. He expressed optimism about a peaceful, transparent, and successful election process and appealed to party members to unite behind the eventual winners to strengthen the NPP in the constituency.
Finally, Mr Dzidzornu encouraged all contestants to exhibit maturity and sportsmanship throughout the electoral process in the interest of unity and development of the party. The NPP has opened nominations for its Constituency Executives Elections, with the nomination period running from Monday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 24, as part of the party's roadmap towards reorganizing its constituency structures.
