Honyenuga, Vice Chancellor of Ho Technical University, in a welcoming remark acknowledged that TUTAG had demonstrated unwavering commitment to safeguarding the welfare and professional dignity of technical university teachers while contributing meaningfully to policy discourse within the sector. He said dialogue embodied maturity, leadership, and institutional patriotism, and when dialogue is prioritized, the pathway shifts from confrontation to collaboration, from suspicion to understanding, and from conflict to productive progress. He emphasized the vital role that dialogue plays for technical universities, which are pivotal in national development.
Prof Honyenuga expressed hope that the Congress would deepen unity, strengthen industrial harmony, promote fairness, academic excellence, improved conditions of service, institutional stability, and position Ghana's Technical Universities for greater impact. He highlighted the collective mission and call to action to provide competency-based education, applied research, and industry-responsive training within a stable and peaceful academic environment, stating that a harmonious environment fosters innovation, productivity, and excellence. He congratulated the newly elected local and national executives of TUTAG and acknowledged the efforts of outgoing executives.
Prof Uriah S. Tetteh, the outgoing President of TUTAG, in a farewell remark, stated that the Association has evolved into a principled and responsible labor union that understands that industrial harmony is cultivated through respectful engagement with key actors such as the government, strategic collaboration with regulatory bodies, and internal agreement among members. He remarked that the Congress signifies the importance of partnership, reinforcing the belief that dialogue is the most sustainable pathway to progress. Prof Tetteh expressed optimism that the Congress would emerge with renewed leadership and purpose guided by wisdom, mutual respect, and shared commitment.
Mr Maxwell Bunu, National President of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), remarked in a solidarity message that CETAG and TUTAG are sister unions in the same struggle. He emphasized that while their contexts may differ, their collective mission is to protect the welfare of teachers and advance education in the country. He called for regular dialogue, joint platforms, and united action, stating that in unity, their strength is multiplied. He paid tribute to Prof Tetteh, the outgoing President, for his steadfast commitment to advancing the cause of tertiary education unions and pledged CETAG's support and commitment to the incoming administration of TUTAG led by Prof Deodat Emilson Adenutsi.
The incoming national leadership includes Prof Deodat Emilson Adenutsi as President Elect, Dr. Frank Kulor as Vice President, Dr. Francis Nutusgah as General Secretary, Mr. Daniel Komla Tsorhe as Treasurer, Mr. Francois Mahama as National Organizer, and Ms. Patience Aku Dedume as the first Gender Officer of TUTAG.
