Ziavi: The Tsadaviefe Clan of Ziavi Dzogbe in the Volta Region has fervently criticized a group known as the Akpevi clan for what it terms a 'reckless attempt' to elect and install a Paramount Chief in Ziavi.
According to Ghana Web, the Tsadaviefe Clan issued a press statement on February 12, 2026, highlighting their concerns about the Akpevi group's actions. The statement expressed the clan's strong disapproval, labeling the attempt as an unwarranted disruption of custom and a potential threat to the peace and security of Ziavi's residents.
The Tsadaviefe Clan firmly rejected the Akpevi group's authority to undertake such an installation, emphasizing that the Akpevi clan does not possess the legal or customary standing to install a chief in Ziavi. The statement also questioned the eligibility of Mr. Alfred Worlanyo Kuma, the proposed candidate, noting his descent from a Klefe Demete individual, which challenges his legitimacy.
The Tsadaviefe Clan asserted its foundational role in the traditional area, stating that it is the rightful custodian of the Ziavi State. The clan highlighted that the Head of the Tsadaviefe Clan, who serves as the Zikpuitor of the Ziavi Paramount Stool, is the sole authority to select candidates for the role of Fiaga or Paramount Chief.
In its statement, the Tsadaviefe Clan described the Akpevi clan as a fictitious entity created during a conspiracy with British Colonial Officers in 1942. This alleged conspiracy aimed to undermine a prominent chief, Adza Anku Satchie, due to his opposition to colonial policies.
The clan disclosed that a case is ongoing in the Ho High Court to rectify the historical fraud allegedly facilitated by the Akpevi clan's predecessors and British Colonial Officers. This pending legal action underscores the importance of respecting the court's authority in determining the rightful custodians of Ziavi's heritage.
Additionally, the Tsadaviefe Clan revealed that an injunction has been filed at the Judicial Committee of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, viewing the Akpevi group's actions as disrespectful to the judicial process. The clan warned that it would employ all legal means to protect its rights and resist further injustices.
The statement concluded with a call for solidarity and intervention from the people of Ziavi and relevant authorities to maintain peace and order. The press release was issued by the Administrator General of the Royal Family of Ziavi, Tsadaviefe, Ziavi Dzogbe, Volta Region.
