Duayaw-nkwanta: Mr Richard Gyamera, the Registrar at the Suaman Dadieso Traditional Council in the Western North Region, has made a significant contribution to the Duayaw-Nkwanta Health Centre by donating essential furniture. This gesture is part of his call to wealthy citizens to support government efforts in enhancing the nation's health facilities.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Gyamera emphasized the importance of citizen involvement in improving health infrastructure to meet the increasing demands of healthcare. He noted that the government alone cannot bear the full responsibility of addressing the emerging health needs of the populace. 'As citizens, it's also our responsibility to contribute toward achieving desirable health outcomes,' he stated.
Mr Gyamera, who hails from Duayaw-Nkwanta in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region, made this appeal during the presentation of five pieces of a three-in-one Outpatient Department (OPD) furniture to the health center. Inspired by the poor conditions he witnessed during a previous visit to the facility, he decided to fund the purchase of the furniture.
He expressed regret over the substandard conditions prevalent in many rural health facilities and urged community members to contribute their 'widow's mite' to improve these facilities. 'It isn't only unfortunate, but unacceptable for patients to stand for hours when they visit public health facilities for medical care,' Mr Gyamera remarked, further pledging to re-paint the Duayaw-Nkwanta Health Centre.
