Central region: The Central Regional Police Command has taken into custody a driver of a Toyota Voxy, identified as Francis Ampomah, who was allegedly transporting 350 cartridges of shotgun ammunition without authorization from Accra to Assin Fosu.
According to Ghana News Agency, the apprehension occurred at the Greenfield Plantation snap checkpoint on the Assin Fosu highway during an intelligence-led operation. The vehicle, with the registration number GT 9748 - 26, was intercepted by the police on Wednesday, May 27.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, law enforcement discovered 14 boxes, colored yellow and brown, each containing 25 cartridges. The police released a statement on Thursday confirming the illicit transportation and the subsequent seizure of the vehicle. The driver remains in police custody and is cooperating with ongoing investigations.
