Accra: Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed concern over the uncertainty faced by the youth of Ghana. In a statement celebrating International Youth Day, the former vice president acknowledged the struggles the youth of Ghana encounter in seeking jobs that are not readily available.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia noted that even those who aspire to start businesses face difficulties due to the high costs associated with starting and sustaining a business. He emphasized that 'too many young people feel uncertain about what lies ahead.' Despite these challenges, Dr Bawumia remains convinced that Ghana's greatest strength lies in the talent and determination of its young people. He stressed the importance of ensuring that opportunities align with the ambitions of the youth.
Dr Bawumia's statement reflects on the diverse circumstances of young Ghanaians, including students, artisans, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and farmers, all of whom share common aspirations. These aspirations include finding decent jobs, building something of their own, living with dignity, and looking to the future with confidence. He acknowledged that these hopes have been tested by the current economic landscape but reiterated his belief that Ghana can be a place where young people can build the future they desire.
