Accra: Former Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has criticised Victoria Duncan-Williams, sister of the Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International Ministry, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, over comments she made about New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Victoria Duncan-Williams, a known supporter of presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, reportedly made the remarks after the former Assin Central MP lost the NPP presidential primaries to Dr Bawumia on January 31, 2026. In her comment, she suggested that Dr Bawumia could never become President of Ghana because of religious demographics in the country.
According to Ghana Web, Titus-Glover expressed disapproval of the statement, arguing that it promotes religious division and undermines Ghana's long-standing culture of religious tolerance. He noted that even Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams would not be pleased with his sister's comments. Speaking in an interview on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana on February 5, 2026, Titus-Glover described the remarks as unfortunate and called on Victoria Duncan-Williams to be more civil in her public commentary.
Titus-Glover further emphasized that both Christians and Muslims are children of God and highlighted the shared values that bind Ghanaians together. He questioned the logic behind religious discrimination, using the example of a Muslim doctor treating a Christian patient to illustrate the importance of unity. He stressed the need for civility and warned against creating division between religious communities.
He concluded by urging Victoria Duncan-Williams to apologize for her remarks, stating, ".if because of friendship you want to support Kennedy Agyapong, you need to be civil. You need to speak well. You don't create division between Muslims and Christians." Titus-Glover underscored the importance of maintaining the harmony and beauty of the country, questioning what wrong Dr Bawumia had done to warrant such statements.
