Tacloban city: At least three students were killed and seven wounded in a shooting at a high school in the eastern Philippines on Monday, police said. Two suspects, aged 15 and 14, were arrested following the attack at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, about 575 kilometers south-east of Manila, regional police director Jason Capoy told reporters.
According to Ghana News Agency, the school had many entrance and exit points but only one security guard was deployed during the time of the incident. Police are investigating how the suspects obtained the firearms used in the shooting. Capoy added that initial reports indicated that one of the suspects was the son of a law enforcement officer.
The victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, Tacloban City police said in a statement. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and carrying out operations to ensure those responsible are held accountable, police said.
