Techiman: Mr Johnson Kwabena Adom, the Techiman North District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Bono East Region, has issued a stern warning to contractors involved in government projects within the local communities against delivering substandard work. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards, ensuring value for money, and completing projects promptly.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Adom's warning came during an interview after inspecting several projects funded by the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) in the area. He highlighted that the execution of educational and health facilities is crucial for improving access and enhancing the quality of life for the residents. Mr Adom also praised President John Dramani Mahama and Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Member of Parliament for Techiman North, for their contributions to the area's infrastructure development.
Mr Adom reassured that the District Assembly is committed to the prudent and transparent use of the DACF for developmental purposes. Meanwhile, Nana Yeboah Afena Akumsah, the Chief of Bridgeso, expressed gratitude towards the government, DCE, and the MP for the ongoing construction of a three-unit Kindergarten block that aims to enhance educational access and quality in the community. As the community continues to grow, he appealed for additional development projects to address the residents' needs.
Residents in the area also lauded the government for its socio-economic intervention programs, such as the Nkoko Nketenkete and the 'Big Push' road infrastructure initiatives. They noted that farming remains the primary occupation in the district, and that these initiatives would help open up the area, providing ready markets and boosting the local poultry industry.
The government was urged to expedite the construction of the 'Farmer Service Centre' in the region. During his inspection, the DCE reviewed progress on several key projects, including a six-unit classroom block at Konimase Area Two, a three-unit classroom KG block at Bridgeso, and a Community-based Planning Service (CHPS) compound at Kogoago. Additionally, he inspected the drilling of mechanized boreholes at Boadan and Nyamebekyere communities, as well as the Bonya CHPS compound and a borehole project at Kwakunumakura.
