Techiman Krobo Nursing Training College Temporarily Closed Due to Unrest

Techiman: The Ministry of Health has announced the temporary closure of the Nursing Training College, Techiman Krobo, with immediate effect following unrest and a breakdown in discipline at the institution.

According to Ghana Web, the Ministry stated that the decision came after unsuccessful efforts to restore calm through meetings, counselling, and appeals involving key stakeholders, including the Regional Security Council. "Despite several meetings, counselling and appeals by stakeholders, including the Regional Security Council, the Ministry has sought to encourage dialogue and restore order. However, some students have continued to engage in conduct that disrupts academic activities and threatens the peace, safety, and orderly administration of the institution," the statement read.

The temporary closure aims to restore calm, protect lives and property, and allow the appropriate authorities to assess the situation and determine the necessary steps towards reopening the college under conducive conditions. The Ministry directed all students to vacate the campus peacefully and return to their respective homes by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. It also urged parents and guardians to make the necessary arrangements for their wards.

The Ministry assured students, parents, staff, and the general public that every effort would be made to resolve the situation promptly. Furthermore, information regarding the reopening of the college will be communicated through official channels. The Ministry expressed appreciation for the understanding, cooperation, and support of all stakeholders as it works to restore a safe and disciplined learning environment.
