Tema: Mr Courage Nunekpeku, Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, has inaugurated the TDC Pensioners' Network with a personal donation of GH?100,000 to support the welfare and operations of the company's retirees. Mr Nunekpeku stated that the donation, which was intended to serve as seed money for the network, was distinct from the official corporate support that management plans to roll out for former staff.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Nunekpeku emphasized that the welfare of retirees is a key priority under the company's ongoing transformation agenda. He described the establishment of the Pensioners' Network as an important move toward fostering a sense of belonging among retired staff and ensuring that their institutional knowledge and experience are retained within the organization.
'To demonstrate my personal commitment to your welfare, I am donating an amount of GH?100,000 from my own pocket to help the network begin its operations,' he announced, receiving applause from the retirees. Mr Nunekpeku revealed that management, in collaboration with government stakeholders, had started formalizing a comprehensive benefits framework aimed at providing long-term security for pensioners.
He mentioned that a key proposal under consideration is the introduction of a dedicated healthcare access system, potentially in the form of a 'gold card', to guarantee medical services for retired staff. On the welfare of current employees, he noted that TDC is upgrading salary structures and improving workplace facilities to enhance productivity and staff morale.
He highlighted the creation of nursing support spaces to enable working mothers to balance childcare with professional responsibilities as part of efforts to improve staff comfort. The MD further indicated that plans are underway to conduct an audit of existing working conditions to identify gaps and assess progress under the transformation agenda.
Mr Nunekpeku urged retirees to take pride in the growth of the company and encouraged them to reach out to other former staff who have yet to join the Pensioners' Network.
