Accra: The Student Workforce Innovation Movement (SWIM) has announced the appointment of Mr. Evans Kyere-Mensah as its Global Agritech and Climate Innovation Advisor. In this role, Mr. Kyere-Mensah will provide strategic leadership aimed at expanding SWIM's programs in the realms of agriculture, climate resilience, and next-generation food systems.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kyere-Mensah brings a wealth of experience in agribusiness development, youth empowerment, and agricultural value chain innovation. His global initiatives in climate-smart agriculture make him well-suited to contribute to the development of agritech education and certification programs. He is expected to spearhead innovation pilot programs, support student-led agritech entrepreneurship, and advance climate-smart agriculture training.
The press release highlighted that Mr. Kyere-Mensah's expertise will be pivotal in providing strategic guidance for expanding SWIM's agritech education initiatives, university partnerships, and innovation programs. The release, citing the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, emphasized that agriculture supports the livelihoods of nearly one billion people globally and remains crucial for economic development, climate resilience, and food security.
Mr. Kyere-Mensah's appointment comes at a time of global economic shifts that are widening disparities and underlining the need to prepare students for emerging opportunities in agriculture and climate innovation. SWIM's model aims to tackle this challenge by creating a global platform that connects students with universities, industry partners, and emerging innovation ecosystems across sectors such as agritech, climate technology, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship.
"Evans brings a rare combination of agricultural innovation expertise, youth development leadership, and global perspective," said Louv Afua Amoakowaa Ford, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SWIM. She further noted that Mr. Kyere-Mensah's role aligns with SWIM's broader mission to build a global workforce ecosystem. Additionally, Ms. Ford mentioned that SWIM has signed an alliance charter with renowned legal scholar and Kenyan activist, PLO Lumumba, as Founding Strategic Advisor and Pan-African institutional ambassador.
