Glikpome: Residents of Glikpome in the Akatsi South Municipality have apprehended a young man suspected of unlawfully occupying an apartment in a storey building after he allegedly posed as a worker assigned by the property owner.
According to Ghana News Agency, an eyewitness, popularly known in the area as 'Atsu,' reported that the young man had been living in the apartment while claiming that the landlord, who currently resides outside the Region, had tasked him with work at the facility. The residents, upon contacting the landlord to verify his claim, were informed that no worker had been sent to the house.
'Atsu' mentioned that the residents' suspicions were aroused after they monitored the young man's activities closely, eventually discovering him inside the apartment. They were puzzled by how he managed to access the property, which is enclosed by walls and a gate.
The eyewitness further stated that some residents suspected the main gate's locks might have been tampered with before the young man entered the premises. Identified as Bismark Fortune through his Ghana Card, he was rescued by the timely intervention of the Akatsi South Police Command after being severely beaten by some residents during the incident.
Subsequently, Bismark Fortune was handed over to the Abor Police Station for further investigation. However, when the Ghana News Agency attempted to ascertain the circumstances of his presence in the apartment, he provided varying explanations that warrant further examination.
The Abor Police Station is yet to reveal further details of the incident to the Ghana News Agency.
