Accra: Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that he planned to publicly call for peace between his fans and those of fellow musician Stonebwoy by attending his recent concert and urging Ghanaians to support the show.
According to Ghana Web, during a TikTok Live session, the "On God" hitmaker expressed his intention to take the stage and encourage fans to stop fuelling the long-running rivalry between the two camps. Shatta Wale emphasized his desire to make the audience feel at ease and move beyond the comparisons that have plagued both artistes.
Shatta Wale lamented the constant comparisons between him and Stonebwoy, stating that he does not view the music industry as a competition. He highlighted the example of Jamaican dancehall stars Mavado and Vybz Kartel, who despite their rivalry, continue to perform globally and earn a living. Shatta Wale expressed his desire to focus on making music for his fans rather than engaging in perceived competition.
His comments come amid ongoing debates by fans and sections of the media who frequently pit the two award-winning dancehall artistes against each other.
