STMA Engages Eshiem Residents on Urgent Development Needs

Sekondi-takoradi: The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has engaged residents of Eshiem, a community in the Anoe Electoral Area, to take note of their development needs and concerns for redress. The engagement, led by Mr. Frederick F. Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), was part of planned activities to give a platform for residents to voice out their concerns, while allowing the Assembly to also update them on steps being taken to address those issues.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Bismark Eshun, the Assembly Member for Anoe Electoral Area, highlighted the community's main challenge as the erratic electricity power supply. He pointed out the significant impact the situation was having on the daily lives and livelihoods of the people. Mr. Eshun noted that Eshiem was connected to the national grid 26 years ago, but no further electrification extensions have been made since then, despite the community's expansion. This has put pressure on the only transformer, leading to unstable power supply.

Mr. Eshun appealed to the STMA for urgent intervention. Other residents raised additional concerns regarding water supply, inadequate toilet facilities, and security issues. In response, Mr. Faidoo assured the community that the Assembly had already initiated steps to address the electricity issue by engaging with the Energy Commission. Eshiem has been listed among communities needing intervention.

Mr. Faidoo also promised that the Assembly would consider other issues raised by residents in its budgeting process to ensure funds are allocated to improve living standards in the community.
