Accra: The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has officially handed over a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound and a three-unit classroom block to the communities of Kuroboi and Kulfuo, enhancing healthcare and educational access in the region. Mr. Adamu Yakubu, the Municipal Chief Executive, led the handover ceremony for these projects, which were financed through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
According to Ghana News Agency, the Kuroboi community received a newly constructed CHPS compound, which includes a maternity ward, is fully furnished, and connected to the national electricity grid. Meanwhile, the Kulfuo Friwa Basic School benefited from a three-unit classroom block that features an office, staff common room, washrooms, tables and chairs for pupils, and access to electricity. These projects are part of the first phase of development initiatives awarded on contract in 2025, demonstrating the Assembly's dedication to enhancing social infrastructure within the municipality.
During the handover, Mr. Yakubu encouraged residents to support local authorities and representatives through spiritual means, emphasizing the importance of such support for sustainable development. He also urged the communities to take ownership of the new facilities and maintain them to ensure their longevity. The community of Kuroboi, represented by an elder, expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala East for their efforts. However, the elder also highlighted the need for improved telecommunications services.
In response to the community's concerns, Mr. Issah Mohammed Bataglia, the MP for Sissala East, reassured residents that plans were in motion to secure reliable telecommunications services. He mentioned ongoing development initiatives throughout the constituency, although he preferred to wait for necessary approvals before discussing them publicly. Mr. Bataglia also announced plans to upgrade the Tarsor/Kulfuo Basic School into a Technical Senior High School, aimed at providing young people with practical and vocational skills.
