Accra: A Kumasi-based spiritualist has sent social media into a frenzy after a video emerged of him 'converting' torn strips of newspaper into Ghana cedi notes during a live appearance on radio. The spiritualist, identified as Akwaada Nyame, who arrived at NhyiraFM with claims of being able to call on the gods to perform extraordinary favours, quickly put his alleged powers on display.
According to Ghana Web, in the video, which has since gone viral, Akwaada Nyame was seen producing what appeared to be an empty tin, several handkerchiefs, and a copy of a newspaper. He stuffed the handkerchiefs into the tin before tearing off a strip of the newspaper. He then turned to the presenter and asked, "What is this?" When the presenter replied, "It is a strip of paper," Akwaada Nyame retorted, "No, this is a GH200 note." He placed the paper strip into the tin alongside the handkerchiefs and covered it.
He then placed the sealed tin into a polythene bag, held it up, and struck it with a talisman while invoking the gods. When he removed the tin, set it on the table, and opened it, the handkerchiefs and newspaper strips had apparently been replaced with cedi notes of various denominations, including a GH200 note visibly on top, to the shock of the presenter. Akwaada Nyame then repeated the process in reverse, seemingly converting the money back into paper and handkerchiefs.
Not stopping there, he went on to claim he could perform the same feat with US dollars. However, when the presenter pressed him to demonstrate, the spiritualist hesitated, explaining that converting to dollars would take longer, as he would need time to spiritually exchange the paper for fresh dollar notes from overseas. The video has since attracted widespread attention and debate online, with viewers divided between amazement and scepticism about what they witnessed.
