Accra:Shai-Osudoku The Shai-Osudoku District Assembly has embarked on a project to reshape roads in Ramatown and Flatland in response to residents' concerns about poor road conditions and limited access within these communities.
According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the local Member of Parliament, Ms. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, with the aim of enhancing mobility for motorists and pedestrians, and improving the social and economic life of the area's residents.
District Chief Executive Ignatius Godfred Dordoe revealed that the Assembly commenced the roadworks after repairing its grader. The Assembly has also engaged community stakeholders such as traditional and religious leaders, and local residents, to tackle the road challenges comprehensively.
Ramatown's road network spans approximately 40 kilometers, with around three kilometers currently under rehabilitation. The ongoing work includes not only road reshaping but also pothole filling and the creation of new access routes to previously inaccessible areas.
Mr. Dordoe emphasized that parts of Flatland are a focus due to the difficult terrain and access issues faced by residents. He assured that the project would continue until completion, creating new access routes and improving the existing infrastructure.
Residents have expressed appreciation for the commencement of the project, noting its potential to significantly enhance movement and connectivity within the communities. They remain hopeful for the project's sustained progress until all major road issues are resolved.
