Savelugu School for the Deaf wins Independence Day award

Tamale, March 06, GNA – The Savelugu School for the Deaf has demonstrated unique march drills at this year’s Independence Day parade in Tamale to win the special category award during the event.

The school, led by its Headmistress, Madam Nora Naaso, emerged first in this category based on special drills exhibited during the march-past at the ceremony.

The Yumba Special School in Tamale followed as the second best special category awardee at the parade.

Other awards were presented under Primary, Junior High Schools (JHS), Senior High schools (SHS), School Cadets and voluntary organisations categories, all for best drill exhibition.

Kamina Primary School came first, followed by the Seventh Day Adventists Primary School (SDA) and Ambariya Primary School respectively, under the primary school category.

The JHS category had Police Barracks JHS as winners, followed by the Prisons School Complex and the Zo-Simli JHS, in that order.

Ghana Senior High (GHANASCO) won the SHS category while Saint Charles Seminary placed second, followed by the Ambariya SHS.

Participating school cadets and voluntary organisations were awarded as well.

The cadet of Tamale SHS (TAMASCO) won the first position, GHANASCO cadet came the second and Vitting SHS cadet placed third.

The Ghana Red Cross Society was adjudged the winner of the voluntary organisation category, with St. John’s Ambulance Association being second and the Ghana Scout, third.

Each winning school was presented with a plaque as a way of recognising their efforts during the celebrations.
