Accra: Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has reflected on the profound impact the death of Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, had on him. In a post shared on X on July 26, 2026, to mark the first anniversary of the legendary musician’s passing, Sarkodie said the news of Daddy Lumba’s death left him completely shattered.
According to Ghana Web, the rapper, who shared a close bond with the late music icon, found it difficult to come to terms with the heartbreaking news. In his tribute, Sarkodie expressed how much he misses the words of encouragement he regularly received from Daddy Lumba. “A year ago today, we heard the heartbreaking news of your passing. I still remember vividly where I was when I received the news. It completely shattered me, and it was so difficult to believe,” he wrote.
Sarkodie further revealed that the late Highlife legend often sent him text messages urging him to keep pushing in his music career and expressing how proud he was of his achievements. “I miss your
texts every now and then, telling me to keep pushing and reminding me how proud you were of me,” he added. Sarkodie concluded his tribute by expressing his enduring love and remembrance for Daddy Lumba, stating, “Daddy, we miss you, and you will forever remain in our hearts. May God be with you until we meet again. We love you always.”
